Monday June 9

Jesse has been in Provo for 10 days now. I (Melanie) have been to see him most of those days. I will try to update you quickly. Jesse has had a rough 10 days with many little complications. It started with an infection found very soon after he arrived in Provo. The infection was found in multiple places in his body. He was started on antibiotics. Then, Jesse began to swell. Once he lost some of his swelling, the doctors had difficulty keeping his oxygen saturation up. On Sunday afternoon, Jesse's numbers were beginning to look good again. But around 6 pm, a chest x-ray revealed another complication. Jesse's body began accumulating pockets of free air. What this means is that there was a leak (or possibly a tear) between his lungs and outer lining of his body (subcutaneous layer). He is being cared for by many doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists who love him. His parents are watching over his care with love and words of encouragement. He continues to receive prayers and love from family members and friends. Jesse continues to be a fighter. But with all of his current trials, Jesse's chest tubes continue to drain very little, which means his chyrothorax most likely is healed. This is just one instances of the many miracles Jesse has received.
